Pakistan Super League Players list for Draft

The dates of the Pakistan Super League auction have also been announced and will take place on December 21 and 22, 2015 at Lahore University of Management Sciences from 9.30 am onwards. The rounds for Platinum, Diamond, and Gold category players will take place on the 21st of December. PSL Draft 2015 Players List

A total of 310 cricketers (138 Pakistani and 172 foreign players) will be available at the draft. Several international superstars and Icon Players of the ilk of Chris Gayle, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Kevin Pieterson & Shane Watson are among a host of big names who will be seen gracing the first PSL auction. As things stand, there are a host of international superstars who have consented to or expressed a serious interest in taking part in the first player draft of the PSL. The players signing up for the first PSL edition would be bought by the franchises through a draft process for player induction; similar to what is in place in American National Football League (NFL).

PSL Player Draft Format

The player auction system has never been implemented in Pakistan and in to ensure a check is kept on the spending; the much safer and balanced player draft system is being used. Each franchise will have a budget of $1 million that can be used to spend on playing and coaching staff. Every team will will have a purse of $US1.1 million. The Pakistan Super League Draft pick order for round 1 is as follows: Islamabad United followed by Karachi Kings, Peshawar Zalmi, Quetta Gladiators and Lahore Qualandar.

• The Franchises will be paying a fixed price for each player.
• Teams need to pick a minimum of 16 players and a maximum squad of 20 with 4 supplementary players.
• A minimum salary cap of $985,000 is in place in case teams pick 16 players while in case of 20 players, they can pay a maximum of $1.1m.
• Teams need to pick three players from the Platinum, Diamond and Gold categories.
• Five players from the Silver Category will make the PSL Squads while two will be picked from the Emerging category.
• A minimum of 4 Pakistani and 4 foreign players per team.

The HBL Pakistan Super League is finally set to see the light of day as the Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the dates for the inaugural edition of this T20 league. The league is set to take place between February 4, 2016 and February 24, 2016. The tournament will be played in Dubai and Sharjah to preclude any security concerns that tends to loom over Pakistan circuits on a frequent basis.

PSL is making all endeavors to ensure that the prospective tournament is a resounding success. Five franchises will be a part of this edition of PSL with each franchise representing one of the major cities in Pakistan. The squad composition of each franchise will have total of 16 players that will include 5 foreign players and 11 Pakistani nationals including at least two emerging players. There will be 25 international players (5 in each team).

The tournament is expected to boast most of the big-budget Pakistan names and quite a few international stalwarts. The entire nation is hoping for a successful PSL which can revolutionize the sport in Pakistan after years of issues and security concerns.
